Ensuring company is Department of Transportation (DOT) compliant with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation (FMCSR) 49 CFR Part 382 or any department (FAA, NRC Federal Government and so on..) is mandatory and is a challenge that your company must comply to. What is the Consortium: A consortium is simply an association of independent businesses that belong to it for a common purpose. The purpose is to provide a random drug and alcohol testing structure that complies with the DOT standards that the organization falls under. ( for example FMCSA,FAA USGA,NRC FRA and so on) This Consortium/ Third Party Administration serves as drug and alcohol compliancy system between the government and you or your company. It also serves all Non Dot/privately owned businesses.
We provide a full-service drug & alcohol testing program that will give you peace of mind and makes this part of your business worry free. Our simplified procedure is ideal for anyone who is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Our program includes all required drug test occasions: Pre-employment, Random, Post Accident, Reasonable Suspicion, Return to Duty, and Follow Up.
How the Consortium Works: Once enrolled, an individual is assigned to a specific group based on specific area of testing rates mandated under the DOT guidelines and their subcategories (FMCSA, FAA, FRA, etc), federal organizations local and state, or other non mandated privately owned businesses testing rates. At any time during the year, a person may be randomly selected from the entire group for testing (urine or Alcohol testing). If selected, the member must not refuse to comply with drug or alcohol testing.
A computer chooses the person’s approved identification number and test date, Any member of the consortium/Third Party Administration may expect to be selected for testing once per year, although, it is possible that one may not be selected for two or more years. It is also possible that a member could be selected more than once per year since the process is random. If you are selected, but have not tested by the date shown on your letter, we are required to report that as a refusal to test. However, unlike some companies, we will make every attempt to connect with you before reporting it.
